Since the 1950s, “The Harvard Five” has been the catchphrase for five architects who built over one hundred houses in New Canaan, Connecticut. Join award-winning local architect William D. Earls AIA to discover the history of the area and how New Canaan came to be the locus of the modern movement’s experimentation in materials, construction methods, space, and form.

William D. Earls, A.I.A. Architect and author of The Harvard Five in New Canaan, works on new construction and renovations of many historic buildings in Connecticut, Vermont, and Massachusetts. In 2013, he received an Award of Merit from the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation (now Preservation Connecticut) for the restoration and adaptive reuse of the Gores Pavilion in New Canaan. His work has been featured in many magazines, including Westport and At Home.
