DESCRIPTION:Local teacher & artist Omayra Rivera-Filardi will share techniques for drawing outdoors. All ages and levels of experience are welcome. Materials will be provided. \nVisitors can also explore all of the historic properties and try hands-on activities on the Museum Commons\, home of the Fairfield Museum. More than 400 years of diverse stories can be found in the Victorian Barn\, Sun Tavern\, and Victorian Cottage\, which has a dedicated early childhood space. \nFree with Museum admission. \n  \nAbout the Artist \nOmaya Rivera-Filardi is an accomplished illustrator\, painter\, and art educator known for her vibrant and evocative works that blend traditional techniques with contemporary concepts. With 21 years of experience as both an artist and educator\, Omaya is dedicated to helping students explore their creative potential while cultivating a deep understanding of visual literacy and artistic expression. Specializing in illustration and acrylic paint\, Omayra has exhibited work at prominent venues such as dnj Gallery in Santa Monica\, CA\, and City Lights Gallery in Bridgeport. Additionally\, her work has been featured in the online gallery for the MSAA’s Art Showcase. Kwashnak loves animals\, warm coffee\, and bringing joy to others by creating fine arts portraits in charcoals or oils. She received two Artist Respond Grants from the DECD/CT Office of the Arts to teach Pandemic Portraiture that culminated in an historic book: “Pandemic Portraiture: Reflections of Healing”. Her work is widely collected and published\, including the upcoming issue for the Community Horse magazine. Join us for a Green Song Singalong with the Fairfield Pollinator Pathway & Fairfield Forestry Committee\, a touch tank from The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk\, arts & crafts\, and much more. In case of inclement weather\, program will take place inside the Fairfield Museum. \nFree Admission. \n  \nProgram Schedule \nOngoing Events \n\nTouch Tank – Experience a touch tank with live tidepool creatures\, such as crabs\, snails\, whelks and clams. Try out this special hands-on learning station from The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk.\nMaking it Rain – What is groundwater? Join the Mill River Wetland Committee to discover how the water cycle works by making it rain on two different watershed models!\nMeet the Ash Creek Conservation Association – Learn how people just like you—along with volunteers\, conservationists and town officials—work together to transform a tidal estuary from a chemical stew to a thriving environment for more than 125 types of local and migratory birds. Stop by for drawings for puzzles and prizes every half hour beginning at 11:30 am.\nLearn about Lights Out CT – Discover how you can help reduce the impacts of light pollution on migratory songbirds! Learn how you can also save energy and money\, reduce your carbon footprint\, safeguard your own health\, and help preserve views of the night sky.\nDrop-in Craft: Bird Kite – Using inspiration from the “Pioneering Conservation” exhibition\, build your own paper kite that looks like a flying bird.\n\n  \n11 am \n\nGreen Song Singalong – Children ages 4+ and their caregivers can enjoy a special musical performance featuring engaging\, interactive songs while learning how to help protect our environment.
