DESCRIPTION:Instructor ShawnaLee W. Kwashnak will share techniques for drawing outdoors during this free drop-in program. All ages and levels of experience are welcome. Materials will be provided. Co-sponsored by the Fairfield County Plein Air Painters. \nVisitors can also explore all of the historic properties and try hands-on activities on the Museum Commons\, home of the Fairfield Museum. More than 400 years of diverse stories can be found in the Victorian Barn\, Sun Tavern\, and Victorian Cottage\, which has a dedicated early childhood space. \nDonations are welcome. \n  \nAdditional Drop-in Drawing Dates \nJune 8 & July 13 from 11 am to 2 pm \n  \nAbout the Artist \nAward-winning New England artist ShawnaLee W. Kwashnak loves animals\, warm coffee\, and bringing joy to others by creating fine arts portraits in charcoals or oils. She received two Artist Respond Grants from the DECD/CT Office of the Arts to teach Pandemic Portraiture that culminated in an historic book: “Pandemic Portraiture: Reflections of Healing”. Her work is widely collected and published\, including the upcoming issue for the Community Horse magazine. ShawnaLee\, a Cum Laude graduate from Western Connecticut State University\, is a mother of three amazing young adults\, leader of an active Girl Scout Troop working towards their Gold Awards\, and shares her art studio space with five cats\, a rabbit\, turtle\, and\, if horses could come inside\, the horse\, too! \n  \n  \nPhoto by Michelle Cheng.

On the longest day of the year\, the Museum will host Dylan Connor and The Lovebirds as part of Make Music Fairfield\, a free outdoor celebration open to everyone. \nNote: Performances will take place on the Museum Commons. In case of inclement weather\, performances will take place inside the Fairfield Museum. \n  \n12-1 pm: Dylan Connor \n1-2 pm: The Lovebirds \n  \nFree \n  \nAbout Dylan Connor \nSinger/songwriter Dylan Connor embodies the very soul of musical arts. With guitar riffs resembling the likes of Nada Surf\, Dawes\, and Phoebe Bridgers\, Dylan translates his subconscious through the teachings of Homer’s “Odyssey\,” Virgil’s “Aeneid\,” and Ovid’s “Metamorphoses.” His graceful capture of those fleeting words and melodies unsung have drawn comparisons to R.E.M.\, Ben Folds\, Billy Bragg\, and Tom Petty. His past performances include SXSW 2023 (Austin\, TX)\, Hotel Cafe (Los Angeles\, CA)\, Rockwood Music Hall (NYC)\, and most recently StageOne Fairfield Theatre Company (Fairfield\, CT). \n  \nAbout The Lovebirds \nThe Lovebirds are a Fairfield-based husband and wife acoustic rock duo. The group features actual lovebirds Ryan SanAngelo and Elizabeth Chatel who rock together with one guitar and two voices. They play a mixture of acoustic originals\, crafty covers\, and TV theme songs. And boy do they bring personality to their entertaining show! Ryan SanAngelo is also a local children’s author and children’s music performer.

SUMMARY:Drop-in Drawing on the Museum Commons
DESCRIPTION:Instructor Judith Bacal will share techniques for drawing outdoors during this free drop-in program. All ages and levels of experience are welcome. Materials will be provided. Co-sponsored by the Fairfield County Plein Air Painters. \nVisitors can also explore all of the historic properties and try hands-on activities on the Museum Commons\, home of the Fairfield Museum. More than 400 years of diverse stories can be found in the Victorian Barn\, Sun Tavern\, and Victorian Cottage\, which has a dedicated early childhood space. \nDonations are welcome. \n  \nAdditional Drop-in Drawing Dates \nJuly 13 & August 10 from 11 am to 2 pm \n  \nAbout the Artist \nJudith Bacal brings a wealth of creativity to her diverse skill set\, spanning photography\, sculpture\, exhibition design\, and problem-solving. With over three decades of experience\, she has contributed her talents to renowned institutions such as The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk and The Shedd Aquarium in Chicago\, as well as numerous arts\, history\, and cultural organizations. Armed with a degree in Industrial Design\, Judith recently embarked on a journey to obtain certification in teaching art\, reigniting her passion for fine arts and art history.
