Please check the Fairfield Museum website (www.fairfieldhistory.org) for weather-related updates. \nPlease do not set up chairs/blankets before 4 pm. \n  \nFree \n  \nAbout the Performer \nDuring his career\, Chris Coogan has appeared alongside Stevie Van Zandt\, Sal Salvador\, Ronnie Spector\, Harold Danko\, Darlene Love\, Donna Summer\, Phoebe Snow\, Maya Angelou\, Richard Smallwood\, and Ben E. King\, among others\, as well as arranging for Teo Maceo\, producer for the late Miles Davis. Coogan has appeared on television’s Celebrity Jeopardy and the Arsenio Hall Show and has performed at Manhattan’s Blue Note and the Montreaux Jazz Festival. He has written and performed original gospel music for a PBS documentary about evangelist Amy Semple McPherson\, and worked with Emmy-award winning composer Brian Keane. A Weston\, Connecticut native\, Coogan leads the Chris Coogan Quartet\, a jazz ensemble whose repertoire includes straight-ahead jazz\, fusion jazz and boogie-woogie\, and serves as the director of the Good News Gospel Choir. Additionally\, he teaches jazz piano and leads gospel workshops throughout the country to help reinvigorate church and community choirs. Accompanying Chris Coogan are John Mobilio (bass)\, Jim Royle (drums)\, Jim Clark (sax)\, and Rex Denton (trumpet). \n  \n  \nJazz Fridays at the Fairfield Museum is made possible by the generous support of Alan and Sylvia Neigher\, Bank of America\, and the CT Arts Endowment Program.

Jim is the drummer for the prestigious New England Jazz Ensemble big band\, which is the combined product of Walt Gwardyak (pianist of the famous Buddy Rich Band). Jim’s latest CD with the John Judd Jazz Trio. Jim was added to the Western CT State University summer faculty in 2006\, where he was in residence to present a week-long steel drum workshop. Please check the Fairfield Museum website (www.fairfieldhistory.org) for weather-related updates. \nFree \nJazz Rabbi Greg Wall featuring pianist David Morgan\, with Rich Zurkowski\, bass\, and Steve Johns\, drums. \nSaxophonist “Jazz Rabbi” Greg Wall has performed and recorded with Hasidic New Wave\, Greg Wall’s Later Prophets \, Zion80\, The Wall/London Band\, Neshama Carlebach\, the Hi-Tops\, Greg Wall’s Unity Orchestra\, and has made many session appearances for record dates and film scores. He was the musical voice of James Earl Jones in the feature film “On the QT”. Writing in Jazz Forum magazine Robert Buczek said\, “Wall plays incredibly; his improvisations are well constructed and convincing.” The Cleveland Plain Dealer adds\, “He plays with a consistent power and imagination.” His compositions for dance\, jazz orchestra\, and electronica have been widely performed and recorded. His critically acclaimed release\, “From the Belly of Abraham”\, with Hasidic New Wave and Senegalese master drummers Yakar Rhythms was named one of the ten best CD’s of 2002 by Jazz Times magazine. \nGreg moved to Westport\, CT in 2013 to become the rabbi of Beit Chaverim Synagogue\, where he now serves as Rabbi Emeritus.  Greg is a founding board member of the Jazz Society of Fairfield County (JazzFC) where he serves as President and Artistic Director. Greg has curated a weekly Westport based Jazz series since 2015\, performing weekly with a rotating lineup of internationally acclaimed NYC based and touring Jazz artists at Westport’s Jazz at the Post. His latest release\, “Sound Advice”\, with Andy LaVerne \, was recently released. All proceeds go to JazzFC’s Micky Golomb Scholarship Fund. \nDavid Morgan’s love of playing music started at age five when he began to learn how to play the piano\, and the piano has been at the center of his musical ventures ever since. He grew up in California\, where he says everyone had musical gear in their garages\, and by age 11 he was already playing in his first band. He played all styles of music – pop\, rock\, blues\, progressive rock\, metal. He began his career as a NYC recording session musician in the 1960’s.  It was there that he recorded with many artists including Bobby Darin\, Benny King\, Paul Simon and The Monkeys.  From 1965-1968\, in addition to session work\, he was the guitarist at the NY Playboy Club where he worked with pianists such as Herbie Hancock\, Chick Corea and Monty Alexander.  In 1969 he travelled and accompanied Sammy Davis jr.  1970 was the year that Al became the musical director for jazz vocalist\, Carmen McRae.  During that period\, the guitar and voice version of Didn’t We was recorded.  From 1971-1976\, Al spent approximately 200 days per year on the road as a member of the Dizzy Gillespie Quartet performing at    major jazz clubs and jazz festivals throughout the world.  Al has been a sideman on about 70 jazz albums and has one album as a leader\, on Pablo Records\, showcasing 5 of his original compositions.  He can be heard on the soundtrack album of “Bridges of Madison County”.   From 1976-1980 Al performed and recorded with Johnny Hartman\, Morgana King\, Sylvia Syms\, Shirley Horn\, Susannah McCorkle\, Stan Getz\, Michelle Legrand Duke Pearson and countless others.  From 1979-2010 Al stayed in NY where he became the permanent guitarist on the Broadway show “Annie” and then subbed on many of the hit Broadway musicals.  Thirteen of his compositions have been recorded by various jazz musicians.  He is extremely proud that he served in the US Navy Submarine Service and that he is included in the book entitled “The History of the Jazz Guitar” by Maurice Summerfield.  \nsuttonplacetrio.com

Please check the Fairfield Museum website (www.fairfieldhistory.org) for weather-related updates. \nPlease do not set up chairs/blankets before 4PM. \nFree \nJazz Fridays at the Fairfield Museum is made possible by the generous support of Alan and Sylvia Neigher\, Bank of America\, and the CT Arts Endowment Program. \n \nAbout the Artists\nTriple Bock is a Connecticut-based band made up of local musicians Kristen Werden\, lead vocals\, Charles “Chuck” Zawadski\, keyboards\, Steven White\, upright and electric bass\, guitarist Amir Ashkenazi\, and Matthew Norkus on drums.  Depending on the venue\, Triple Bock can perform as a jazz combo playing standards\, fusion and modern tunes or they can play a night of funk\, R&B and more. Why settle for for ordinary\, get triple the groove.
