Please check the Fairfield Museum website (www.fairfieldhistory.org) for weather-related updates. \nPlease do not set up chairs/blankets before 4 pm. \n  \nFree \n  \nAbout the Performer \nJim Royle’s name has become synonymous with jazz in the New England club circuit and his articulate playing is documented on several CDs\, including Chris Coogan Trio (2020) Jim Clark\, Old As New (2016)\, Jim Tutunjian Trio\, Upright and Walking\, (2016) Jim has performed with Jazz greats such as Randy Brecker\, Slide Hampton\, Melissa Hamilton’s NY Voices\, Bob Mintzer to name a few!. \nJim has studied various aspects of percussion with world recognized masters such as Max Roach\, Alan Dawson\, Keith Copeland\,  Akira Tana\, Norbert Goldberg\, Vernal Fournier. He first gained international recognition with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers\, composing the title track of Blakey’s final album\, One For All. Over a distinguished career\, Davis has performed and recorded with jazz legends including Chick Corea\, Freddie Hubbard\, Jackie McLean\, Benny Golson\, Horace Silver\, Roy Hargrove\, and the acclaimed collective One For All. He has appeared on nearly 200 recordings\, including 20 as a leader. \nA Grammy-winning artist\, Davis is featured on Chick Corea’s Antidote and composed “Optimism” for the Grammy-winning Christian McBride Big Band release Bringin’ It. Please check the Fairfield Museum website (www.fairfieldhistory.org) for weather-related updates. \nPlease do not set up chairs/blankets before 4 pm. \n  \nFree \n  \nAbout the Performer \nDuring his career\, Chris Coogan has appeared alongside Stevie Van Zandt\, Sal Salvador\, Ronnie Spector\, Harold Danko\, Darlene Love\, Donna Summer\, Phoebe Snow\, Maya Angelou\, Richard Smallwood\, and Ben E. King\, among others\, as well as arranging for Teo Maceo\, producer for the late Miles Davis. Coogan has appeared on television’s Celebrity Jeopardy and the Arsenio Hall Show and has performed at Manhattan’s Blue Note and the Montreaux Jazz Festival. He has written and performed original gospel music for a PBS documentary about evangelist Amy Semple McPherson\, and worked with Emmy-award winning composer Brian Keane. A Weston\, Connecticut native\, Coogan leads the Chris Coogan Quartet\, a jazz ensemble whose repertoire includes straight-ahead jazz\, fusion jazz and boogie-woogie\, and serves as the Director of music at Saint Matthews\, Norwalk\, Connecticut. Known throughout New York and New England\, they have shared the stage with legendary artists including Tito Puente\, Ray Barretto\, José Alberto\, and Grupo Fascinación. \nThe duo earned the 2004 Independent Music Award for Best Original Latin Song\, “Rumba en el Barrio\,” and received a 2006 Achievement Award alongside Eddie Palmieri and José Feliciano. Their music has reached international audiences and has been featured by WWE and in the motion picture Knucklehead. \nFormerly known as Orquesta Presión\, Vinny & Ray have performed extensively across the Northeast and beyond. Their recordings include Only the Beginning and Two of a Kind. Please check the Fairfield Museum website (www.fairfieldhistory.org) for weather-related updates. \nPlease do not set up chairs/blankets before 4 pm. \n  \nFree \n  \nAbout the Performer \nGuitarist Paul Bollenback has been an active force in jazz since 1981\, performing with an impressive range of artists including Stanley Turrentine\, Joey DeFrancesco\, Gary Bartz\, Jeff “Tain” Watts\, Steve Gadd\, George Coleman\, James Moody\, Joe Locke\, Herb Ellis\, and Terri Lyne Carrington. Renowned for his versatility\, he is especially recognized for his influential 20-year association with organ master Joey DeFrancesco. \nBollenback has appeared on more than 90 recordings as a sideman and released 10 albums as a leader. A respected composer\, his works have been recorded by Joey DeFrancesco and the JazzTimes Superband. He has also maintained a distinguished career in jazz education\, teaching at Columbia University\, Queens College\, The New School\, and the Litchfield Jazz Camp. \nHis latest recording\, Timelines (SteepleChase)\, featuring Pat Bianchi and Byron Landham\, is scheduled for release in fall 2026.
