DESCRIPTION:As the American Revolution raged on\, Fairfield stood firm as a patriot town. Many of Fairfield’s revolutionary figures now rest in the Old Burying Ground\, including: Brigadier General Gold Selleck Silliman\, daring ship captain Samuel Smedley\, Reverend Andrew Eliot\, patriots Thaddeus Burr and Eunice Dennie Burr\, Caleb Brewster of the Culper Spy Ring\, and many more. Discover stories of courage\, conviction\, and intrigue that helped shape a new nation. \nRegistration is required. $15 for members; $20 for non-members. \nRain Date: June 27 \n  \nProgram Details: \n\nProgram meets at Fairfield Museum Lobby.\nPre-registration is required—no drop-ins will be allowed.\nNo physical ticket will be mailed. Check in using your name.\nTour is approximately 90 minutes long and will start promptly.\nThis program is recommended for adults and kids ages 14 and up.\nPlease dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. We will be standing and walking for extended periods.\nNo refunds will be given unless the program is cancelled by the Fairfield Museum.\n\n  \n \n

The exhibition showcases today’s multi-faceted Fairfield community and celebrates the different people who call Fairfield home.\nFairfield in 1776 Exhibition: Visitors will compare the town in the 1700s to the present day\, discover who lived here\, and follow residents’ lives before and during the difficult moments of the American Revolution.\nHappy Anniversary! Exhibition: Visitors will learn more about how Fairfielders have remembered key moments in history through unique photographs\, quilts\, costumes\, flags and more!\n\n11 am – 2 pm: \n\nVisit the historic Sun Tavern\, rebuilt in 1780 after the 1779 Burning of Fairfield.\nEnjoy the dedicated early childhood space in the Victorian Cottage\, where children can learn\, explore\, and play.\nExplore Fairfield’s agricultural roots in the Victorian Barn.\n\n11:30 am – 1:30 pm: \n\nDrop-in Drawing: An artist will share techniques for drawing outdoors. All ages and levels of experience are welcome. Materials will be provided. DESCRIPTION:As early as 1644\, a tavern was required for each town in Connecticut. Fairfield’s taprooms connected the town with the world\, strategically located close to the bustling harbors in Southport and Black Rock\, as well as the colonies’ major thoroughfare\, the King’s Highway (now Post Road and Old Post Road). DESCRIPTION:Walk among the gravestones in the town’s oldest cemetery to discover the stories of Revolutionary War spy Caleb Brewster\, naval hero Samuel Smedley\, and patriot Eunice Dennie Burr. Uncover some of the burial practices in early New England while listening to long-buried legends that have haunted Fairfield for nearly 400 years. \n  \nRegistration is required. Members: $12; Non-Members: $15. \n**No physical ticket will be mailed. Check in using your name.** \n  \nTour Dates: Tuesday\, October 28; Wednesday\, October 29; Thursday\, October 30 at 5:30 pm on each night \nTour Location: Meet at Fairfield Museum Main Entrance. \n  \nProgram Details \n\nPre-registration is required—no drop-ins will be allowed.\nTours are approximately 60 minutes long and will depart on their ghostly journey promptly at 5:30 PM.\nTours will meet at the front entrance of the Fairfield Museum.\nFeel free to bring your own flashlights.\nThis program is recommended for adults and kids ages 12 and up.\nPlease dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
