Join local historian Robert Ernest Hubbard\, author of Major General Israel Putnam: Hero of the American Revolution\, as he separates fact from fiction. Discover the defining moments in Putnam’s life\, including his leadership of the Continental Army encampment in Redding during the winter of 1779. \nA book sale and signing will follow the presentation. \n$5 suggested donation \n  \nAbout the Speaker \nRobert Ernest Hubbard is a retired professor from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven\, and an adjunct faculty member in the college’s Master of Fine Arts in Writing program. With 21 years of experience as both an artist and educator\, Omaya is dedicated to helping students explore their creative potential while cultivating a deep understanding of visual literacy and artistic expression. Specializing in illustration and acrylic paint\, Omayra has exhibited work at prominent venues such as dnj Gallery in Santa Monica\, CA\, and City Lights Gallery in Bridgeport. Additionally\, her work has been featured in the online gallery for the MSAA’s Art Showcase. DESCRIPTION:As the American Revolution raged on\, Fairfield stood firm as a patriot town. Many of Fairfield’s revolutionary figures now rest in the Old Burying Ground\, including: Brigadier General Gold Selleck Silliman\, daring ship captain Samuel Smedley\, Reverend Andrew Eliot\, patriots Thaddeus Burr and Eunice Dennie Burr\, Caleb Brewster of the Culper Spy Ring\, and many more. Discover stories of courage\, conviction\, and intrigue that helped shape a new nation. \nRegistration is required. $15 for members; $20 for non-members. \nRain Date: June 27 \n  \nProgram Details: \n\nProgram meets at Fairfield Museum Lobby.\nPre-registration is required—no drop-ins will be allowed.\nNo physical ticket will be mailed. Check in using your name.\nTour is approximately 90 minutes long and will start promptly.\nThis program is recommended for adults and kids ages 14 and up.\nPlease dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
