SUMMARY:7/8/26: Burning of Fairfield Guided Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:On July 7\, 1779\, Fairfield residents awoke to the sound of a cannon—a warning from the fort at Black Rock. A British fleet had been spotted anchoring off the coast. No one predicted the destruction that was about to occur. Join us for a special guided walking tour detailing the British raid. Discover the homes that survived the invasion unscathed and hear of the sacrifices made for American independence from British rule. \nRegistration is required. $15 for Members; $20 for Non-Members. \n  \nProgram Details \n\nPre-registration is required—no drop-ins will be allowed.\nThere will be a 12 pm and a 6 pm walking tour.\nTours are approximately 90 minutes long and will start promptly.\nTour Location: Tours will meet in the Fairfield Museum lobby.\nNo physical ticket will be mailed. Check in using your name.\nThis program is recommended for adults and kids ages 12 and up.\nPlease dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. We will be standing and walking for extended periods.\nIn case of inclement weather\, the Fairfield Museum will make every effort to reschedule the tour. Please check the Fairfield Museum website (www.fairfieldhistory.org) for weather-related updates.\nNo refunds will be given unless the program is cancelled by the Fairfield Museum.

More than 400 years of diverse stories can be found in the Victorian Barn\, Sun Tavern\, and Victorian Cottage\, which has a dedicated early childhood space. \nFree. \n  \nAbout the Artist \nOmaya Rivera-Filardi is an accomplished illustrator\, painter\, and art educator known for her vibrant and evocative works that blend traditional techniques with contemporary concepts. With 21 years of experience as both an artist and educator\, Omaya is dedicated to helping students explore their creative potential while cultivating a deep understanding of visual literacy and artistic expression. Specializing in illustration and acrylic paint\, Omayra has exhibited work at prominent venues such as dnj Gallery in Santa Monica\, CA\, and City Lights Gallery in Bridgeport. Additionally\, her work has been featured in the online gallery for the MSAA’s Art Showcase. The Kaller family has long been known for building world-class collections of rare stamps and coins. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in 1988\, Seth started his own business as a specialist in antiquarian books and manuscripts. Over the years he has become one of the top Americana specialists in the country and has handled numerous one-of-a-kind items. Today\, Seth works with both private collectors and institutional clients\, including museums\, libraries\, universities\, and foundations.

SUMMARY:Enemies of Liberty: Loyalists in Connecticut Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:As tensions between the British Crown and the American colonies escalated\, divisions among friends\, neighbors\, and even family members deepened. Those who still supported the Crown were considered enemies of independence. While many colonists hoped to remain neutral\, the Revolutionary War’s arrival in New England forced many to choose sides. Fairfield stood strong as a patriot town throughout the American Revolution\, yet it was home to loyalists like Anglican minister John Sayre. Discover how Connecticut residents debated the question of independence or loyalty and uncover the depths of loyalty for to the Crown as tensions between patriots and loyalists boiled over. \nRain Date: July 25 \nRegistration is required. $15 for Members; $20 for Non-Members. \nProgram Details: \n\nProgram meets at Fairfield Museum Lobby.\nPre-registration is required—no drop-ins will be allowed.\nNo physical ticket will be mailed. DESCRIPTION:Jazz Fridays at the Fairfield Museum are back! Music lovers are invited to kick off their weekends at these free jazz concerts held on the Museum Commons. Bring your own picnic and blankets/chairs and join us for a wonderful evening. \nIn the case of inclement weather\, concerts will be cancelled and the Fairfield Museum will make every effort to reschedule the performance. Please check the Fairfield Museum website (www.fairfieldhistory.org) for weather-related updates. \nPlease do not set up chairs/blankets before 4 pm. \n  \nFree \n  \nAbout the Performer \nJim Royle’s name has become synonymous with jazz in the New England club circuit and his articulate playing is documented on several CDs\, including Chris Coogan Trio (2020) Jim Clark\, Old As New (2016)\, Jim Tutunjian Trio\, Upright and Walking\, (2016) Jim has performed with Jazz greats such as Randy Brecker\, Slide Hampton\, Melissa Hamilton’s NY Voices\, Bob Mintzer to name a few!. \nJim has studied various aspects of percussion with world recognized masters such as Max Roach\, Alan Dawson\, Keith Copeland\,  Akira Tana\, Norbert Goldberg\, Vernal Fournier. And Pan Master Professor Philmore \nJim leads the Caribbean Jazz Connection\, as well as Silver Steel\, Roylety Steel Pan Bands! \n  \n  \n  \nJazz Fridays at the Fairfield Museum is made possible thanks to the generous support of Alan and Sylvia Neigher\, Bank of America\, and the CT Arts Endowment Program.
