DESCRIPTION:On July 7\, 1779\, Fairfield residents awoke to the sound of a cannon—a warning from the fort at Black Rock. A British fleet had been spotted anchoring off the coast. No one predicted the destruction that was about to occur. Join us for a special guided walking tour detailing the British raid. Discover some of the homes that made it through the invasion unscathed and hear of the sacrifices made for American independence from British rule. \nSpace is limited. Registration is required. $10 for Members; $15 for Non-Members. \n  \n**When purchasing admission\, you will NOT receive a physical ticket. All you need to do at check-in is provide your name.** \n  \nTour Dates: \n\nSaturday\, July 6 at 10 am and 12 pm\nSunday\, July 7 at 10 am and 12 pm\nMonday\, July 8 at 6 pm\n\n  \nTour Location: Meet at Fairfield Museum Main Entrance. \n  \nProgram Details \n\nPre-registration is required—no drop-ins will be allowed.\nTours are approximately 45 minutes long and will start promptly.\nTours will meet at the front entrance of the Fairfield Museum.\nThis program is recommended for adults and kids ages 12 and up.\nPlease dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Kwashnak loves animals\, warm coffee\, and bringing joy to others by creating fine arts portraits in charcoals or oils. She received two Artist Respond Grants from the DECD/CT Office of the Arts to teach Pandemic Portraiture that culminated in an historic book: “Pandemic Portraiture: Reflections of Healing”. Her work is widely collected and published\, including the upcoming issue for the Community Horse magazine. ShawnaLee\, a Cum Laude graduate from Western Connecticut State University\, is a mother of three amazing young adults\, leader of an active Girl Scout Troop working towards their Gold Awards\, and shares her art studio space with five cats\, a rabbit\, turtle\, and\, if horses could come inside\, the horse\, too! \n  \n  \nPhoto by Michelle Cheng.
