History Bites: The Privateers of Black Rock Harbor

May 30 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

There’s a fine line between a pirate and a privateer — and it’s as thin as a piece of paper issued by the government. Come hear how such Fairfield luminaries as Thaddeus Burr, Samuel Smedley, and Caleb Brewster as well as many other “gentlemen of fortune” banded together to attack the British on the high seas during the Revolutionary War. Lunchtime lecture presented by Jackson Kuhl, author of Samuel Smedley, Connecticut Privateer. Co-presented with the Black Rock Community Council History Program.
