How the House was Built

How the House was Built: Speaker Series

STRATEGIES IN ACTIVISM:
What can we learn from past leaders?

Today’s house of activism was built by our ancestors, specifically our Black liberation leaders, who laid a foundation and shape today’s leaders. We are guided by those people. This speaker series is an effort to reaffirm that foundation and put us into motion for change to take place within our community. We seek to usher in a climate in which, collectively, we work towards an honest examination of institutions, history, and norms. The overall structure and goal of this program is to present historical context alongside a contemporary lived experience to offer an analysis that is not merely theoretical but personal.

This virtual discussion takes place on Zoom.

Fairfield Yabantu’s educational mission is to equip people with knowledge that moves towards taking effective action. This series will be in collaboration with the Fairfield Museum and History Center, The Pequot Library, and The Unquowa School’s IDEA Committee. As a collaborative group, we recognize that diverse voices lead to dynamic programs.
