How the House Was Built (with Fairfield Yabantu): Speaker Series
February 24 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
How the House was Built: Speaker Series
EDUCATION:
Does the current culture of districting promote division and a culture of elitism? With professors Dr. Chris Emdin and Dr. Yolanda Sealey-Ruiz, of Teachers College, Columbia University.
Today’s house of activism was built by our ancestors, specifically our Black liberation leaders, who laid a foundation and shape today’s leaders. We are guided by those people. This speaker series is an effort to reaffirm that foundation and put us into motion for change to take place within our community. We seek to usher in a climate in which, collectively, we work towards an honest examination of institutions, history, and norms. The overall structure and goal of this program is to present historical context alongside a contemporary lived experience to offer an analysis that is not merely theoretical but personal.
This virtual discussion takes place on Zoom.
