Reception: 6 – 6:30pm. Presentation: 6:30pm

In partnership with the National Park Service, as part of its Battlefields of the Pequot War project, the Fairfield Museum recently completed exciting field research to discover details of the Battle of Pequot Swamp (also known as Munnacommock Swamp), which occurred in 1637 in present day Southport.  The battle was the last engagement of the Pequot War and was an important catalyst for English settlement of Fairfield and Southport.

At this special Museum After Dark event, Dr. David Naumec will discuss the significance the Pequot War and the most recent findings from the 2018 archaeological survey of Southport. Attendees will also be able to view a selection of the original artifacts recovered from the battle over 380 years ago. Learn more about the project and view the final report by Clicking Here.
