Professional Development & Teacher Resources

The Fairfield Museum is a leader in Professional Development programs for educators, providing lectures by historians and scholars, events, and other workshops. Our Virtual School Programs provide interactive materials to use in the classroom while Teacher Resources share Pre and Post Visit guides and curricular connections.

Professional Development Workshops
Fairfield Museum educators can collaborate with administrators and teachers to design customized professional development workshops for K-12 teachers. These can include lessons on inquiry based teaching, looking at primary source documents, or can focus on integrating current exhibitions into classroom curricula. They can include specialized, content-rich sessions looking at the American Revolution, the rise of industrialization and immigration, or one that considers the diverse stories of people in this area, including those of Black and Indigenous communities. Please email education@fairfieldhs.org for more information.

Resources for Educators
Educator Resources include Teaching with Primary Sources guides, Teacher Guides and Lesson Plans (see below) that complement the Fairfield Museum’s Education Programs and reinforce curriculum.

Pre / Post Visit Guide
Please use this guide to become more familiar with the Fairfield Museum. Included are museum guidelines to review with your group and suggested pre and post activities.

Virtual School Programs
The Fairfield Museum’s new Digital Learning Platform provides virtual school programs, activities and online resources for students, teachers and caregivers free of charge.
