A Fairfield Museum Birthday Party!

The Fairfield Museum offers a wide variety of birthday party themes for your curious child! Parties are available for children ages 3 – 12 and utilize the Fairfield Museum’s engaging exhibitions and historic properties as inspiration. Have a building party in the Kidzone Cottage, travel to 1780 in the Sun Tavern or enjoy a party during the Holiday Express Train Show. See below for more information on the Fairfield Museum’s unique and engaging birthday parties!

Your birthday party includes:
• Same day free admission for all party guests and parents
• Hands-on activities led by a Birthday Party Host/Instructor such as a Scavenger Hunt, craft project, interactive tours and/or historic games
• Time for cake and gift-giving
• Exclusive use of a private room, tables and chairs for the activity and party
You provide: Birthday cake, refreshments, party decorations, cups/plates, etc. and favors.

All Aboard! The Holiday Express Ages 3 – 6

Treat your child and friends to a unique party at the Holiday Express Train Show! Enjoy a Scavenger Hunt and story amidst this magical wonderland of model trains. Kids will enjoy a short story and a hands-on activity of your choice. Younger children will enjoy building a snowman out of marshmallows while older children can build and paint their own wooden train model.

Available during the Holiday Express Train Show in December 2 – January 7, Saturdays or Sundays from 2pm – 3:30pm. Members: $200; Non-Members: $250. Up to 15 children (includes up to 12 adults), maximum = 20 (includes up to 19 adults). Each additional child: $15.

Kidzone in the Cottage Ages 4 – 6

Available seasonally, March – November (The Cottage difficult to access in winter months, call for more information.)
The Kidzone in the Cottage features games and creative playtime activities for children. This fun space includes a dress-up area, a building zone with blocks, interactive maps, and a pretend planting garden. Birthday parties include playtime, a hands-on project, and time for cake and gift-giving!

Due to the limited capacity in the Cottage, we can only accommodate a maximum of 15 children and up to 8 parents in the Kidzone Cottage. Parents are welcome to wait in the Museum and participate in cake/gift-giving in the Education Classroom in the Museum.
Members: $200; Non-Members: $250. Up to 15 children (due to space restrictions).

Busy Builders
Kids enjoy a simple engineering challenge using clothespins and craft sticks. What can you build? We’ll add fun experiments to make different super-structures!

Little Sprouts
Kids decorate a miniature clay pot with colorful shapes and sparkles. Afterwards, we’ll use soil and seeds to plant our own flowers to watch and grow.

Innovation & Inventions! Ages 6 – 8

Step back in time to discover inventions that were created right here in the Fairfield area! Find out about Gustave Whitehead’s flying machine, the Locomobile and other innovations through a Scavenger Hunt in the Museum’s galleries. The birthday child can choose the hands-on activity which can include building a race car or airplane, projects that develop skills in problem solving, creativity, and force and motion.
Members: $200; Non-Members: $250. Up to 15 children, each additional child $15 with a maximum of 20.

Colonial Kids Ages 8 – 12

Learn about life in colonial times, from what people wore to how they survived without television and cell phones! Enjoy playtime in the Revolutionary War era section of the Creating Community exhibition and an interactive tour of the 1780 Sun Tavern. Finally, kids will enjoy making their own corn husk dolls to take home!
Members: $225; Non-Members: $275. Up to 15 children, each additional child $15 with a maximum of 20.

Tavern Drama Ages 8 – 12

The newly renovated Sun Tavern was host to the likes of George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Abigail Adams. This historic building, built in 1780, features exhibits and interactive experiences in the Tap Room and upstairs Chamber, where kids can immerse themselves in the past. Handle reproduction objects, play historic games or read the news in the Tap Room. Party-goers also choose costumes to re-enact a scenes from travelers who kept diaries and journals as well as accounts from the burning of Fairfield by the British in 1779.
Members: $225; Non-Members: $275. Up to 15 children, each additional child $15 with a maximum of 20.

A $100 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of the reservation to confirm your date and time. The balance (including all additional guests) is due on or before the party date.
Parents are welcome to stay and participate in the birthday party with their children at no additional fee.
