Serving one’s community improves everyone’s quality of life.  The Fairfield Museum and History Center offers a variety of volunteer opportunities in the areas of collection, preservation and education. Library Volunteer

Library & Research

1. Do you like to read the newspaper? We need a volunteer who can identify items in the local press that should be added to our vertical file on the history of Fairfield and the region. The position includes identifying items, photocopying, and filing the articles in the proper location. Some work could be done from home, but the position requires at least 1-2 hours per week in the library.
2. Do you love history? The research library at the Fairfield Museum and History Center offers a unique collection of books, papers, and photographs on the history of Fairfield and the region. We are looking for volunteers to help with research (including genealogy), organizing materials, and other tasks.

Museum Shop

Museum Shop VolunteersJoin our wonderful staff of Volunteers who work at the Museum Shop where you can enjoy our beautiful Museum and lovely Shop, filled with items that will delight and surprise you.You will meet visitors from near and far and join a community of dedicated and friendly staff and volunteers.
The shop is open weekdays from 10 – 4 pm and weekends 12 – 4 pm. Shifts are in three hour segments on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. For more information, please contact the Fairfield Museum at 203-259-1598.
