Gilded Age House Tour

Experience the glamour of the Gilded Age and get a rare glimpse inside two extraordinary Fairfield mansions: the Sturges “White” House (1855) and the Sturges Cottage (1840) located on Mill Plain Green.

In conjunction with Fairfield Museum’s special exhibition Money Talks: The Gilded Age in Fairfield, join us anytime between 12 and 4 pm to tour these two exclusive homes and hear about the Gilded Age families who called them home.

$40 for Fairfield Museum Members; $50 for Non-Members. Registration is required.

Event Details:

• We welcome children over the age of 12.
• Participants may check in either at the Sturges “White” House (81 Sturges Rd) or the Sturges Cottage (449 Mill Plain Rd).
• Both homes will be open from 12 to 4 pm. Participants may arrive anytime between 12 and 4 pm to tour the homes; there are no timed tours.
• Free street parking is available on surrounding streets (including Old Mill Rd and around Mill Plain Green).
• Both houses are within walking distance; they may have stairs or uneven surfaces.
• Please do not touch objects inside the houses.
• To protect flooring, high-heeled shoes may not be worn inside the houses and the use of shoe covers may be requested.
• No restrooms will be available.
• No photography, videography, or cell phone conversations inside the houses.
• No smoking, eating, or drinking permitted inside the houses.
• No refunds unless the event is cancelled by the Fairfield Museum.
