On the morning of September 22, 1776, Nathan Hale was killed by the British for being a spy for the Continental Army. Hale was designated the Connecticut State Hero in 1985. About the Speaker

Anne Marie Charland has been working in the fields of history and tourism for over 20 years.  Her career started in marketing and public relations for the Greater Hartford Tourism District and later the Northeast Visitors District. She joined the Connecticut Landmarks team at Nathan Hale Homestead in Coventry, CT in 2012 and has been the museum administrator since 2017. She has also curated exhibits, facilitated programs, and been a consultant at museums throughout Connecticut.
