Due to the inclement weather forecast, this walking tour will be postponed to the rain date of Saturday, May 31 from 10:30 am to 12 pm.

In conjunction with the Building an American Voice and Dressed to Impress exhibitions, join us for a special walking tour of downtown Fairfield. Discover how the Post Road evolved from a Native American walking path to become the town’s commercial center. Join us to reminisce about the Fairfield Store, Henry’s Men’s Shop, and many other businesses locals sought out for fashionable clothes and accessories.

Rain Date: May 31, 2025

Registration is required. $12 for Members, $15 for Non-Members.

 

Program Details:

  • Tour will meet at the gazebo on Sherman Green.
  • The rain date for this program is Saturday, May 31, 2025. In case of inclement weather, the Fairfield Museum will reach out to program registrants with an update.
  • Pre-registration is required—no drop-ins will be allowed.
  • Tour is approximately 90 minutes long and will depart promptly at 10:30 AM.
  • This program is recommended for adults and kids ages 12 and up.
  • Restrooms will NOT be available.
  • Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. We will be standing and walking for extended periods, mostly on grassy areas or sidewalks.
  • No refunds will be offered unless the program is cancelled by the Fairfield Museum.
